North Yorkshire County Council are looking at the provision of Library services across Ryedale, and in the coming months there will be some changes to the level of service provision and possibly library closures. One way of potentially preventing this from happening to our main library is a call to the community to run the facility as a community ‘hub’. This could see the library existing in a similar guise, with books, information, and an ICT suite, including potentially a café and other community uses.
County Councillor Elizabeth Sheilds is seeking enthusiastic volunteers in the town to form a focus group on taking this vision forward so that an action plan is in place for presentation to North Yorkshire County Council.
If you would like to be involved with the group, volunteer, or have ideas that would help create the perfect hub and way forward then Mrs Shields would be delighted to hear from you. Please email her on firstname.lastname@example.org.
